The Smoke Thief- Shana Abe

witchyOk I've got a long list of books, but this is the first I'm writing about.
I've been watching this book for just about a year, don't ask i know you would have thought I'd have purchased it in the year, but it's a kind of historical romance, with a bit of magic and dragons, thrown in, so even though I'm totally addicted to the paranormal, I wasn't too sure of this book. But push came to shove on Saturday and I was forced to choose it to complete my buy 4 get the 5th free.

Dubbed the Smoke Thief for a series of daring jewel thefts, Clarissa Rue Hawthorne didn't expect the drakon leader himself to come to London dangling the tribe's most valuabel jewel as bait: the langford Diamond. But Christoff, the chraismatic Marquess of Langford, had to catch Clarissa before anyone else did- or risk exposing the entire clan to the world of ordinary mortals. he never expected tha the outcast halfling he pursued would have a proposition of her own to save the drakon- a propositions so dangerous, so tempting, that Christoff will find it impossible to resist: to join forces with her.
Now, this was my first time reading one of Shana Abe's books, so i haven't got anything to compare it to, just other stuff I've read.
So overall, it was great, Clarissa (Rue), and Christoff (Kit), are great characters. The descriptions are what gets you in this book. I love how she goes through the phases, how they Turn to smoke first then to dragon, and then to human. Another thing that was great was the history at the beginning of the book. It was very magical. The plot was fantastic, she didn't make it run on and on, about what they'd originally teamed up to do but had them conclude that one, (kind of) and then extended it into another plot.
So over all I think i'll continue reading her works. [since there is a second part]
"The Dream Thief"- their daughter! and the 'apprentice' that Clarissa had when she was the smoke thief....their story seems the most interesting. I find I like those stories where the girl is kind of a smart alec (like Clarissa), which is what it seems like with Lia.
