MANGA: Hana Yori Dango (Boys over Flowers/ Boys Before Blossoms)
Ok so it's all the evil influence of my friend that makes me get sucked into these things, first off. My day trip to NY was great, had alot of fun, and came back with a few nice pics, and gotta love jeweled hairclips...can never get tired of those...*lol*
Anyway, went to Kinokuniya's with my friend, badbad move....Anime/Manga store + My friend = $$$$$....
I resisted all I could seriously I did, ok all of 2 mins, then i caved, when i saw this manga called, SEX= LOVE^2, yes the guy on the cover was intriguiging as well. Never mind that it's an untranslated volume, I couldn't resist and watched as my hand grabbed it. Then I went to vol 3 of Private Prince...my friend had gotten vol 1 and 2 on our last visit and we'd already looked it over, and searched out the scanlations for it, so we knew what was going on, but wasn't it just my luck when i went to get it there was only vol 3. So I grabbed that as well. Anyway, I thought 2 untranslated versions was enough. So I headed over to the english section, (STUFF I CAN ACTUALLY READ)....grabbed the newest Gravitation novel, then Aishiteruze Baby...and Boys Over Flowers.

So that leads me to the new manga, that i'm in love with. Hana Yori Dango...
It's the normal fairytale cinderella story...poor girl, in rich school, meets rich guy, fall in love and whambam they live happily ever after.
*lol*...ok that all didn't happen in one volume. The complete series is 36 mangas, there's also a live action version, and anime, that stops at 51 episodes i believe, but the manga continues beyond the anime. Don't know too much about the live action version, but my friend has it so maybe i'll get it from her, and check it out.
Though seriously it's drama every which way in this manga, forget the daytime soaps, this is better.
A rundown of the characters....
Makino Tsukushi- "the poor girl".....lead girl in the manga. She's not the 'oh woe is me' type, she's definitely strong, doesn't take crap from anyone, that's how she meets Tsukasa.

Domyouji Tsukasa- "the rich boy" #1....(there's four of them)....he's a bit violent,...ok he's crazy as hell, but i'll let you discover how crazy if anyone decides to read the manga. His hair is a bit weird in the beginning and it makes him look rather hilarious but after awhile it becomes so familiar it doesn't stand out anymore....he's leader of the F4...(the four richest guys at the elite Eitoku high school)...his cohorts in crime are...
Hanazawa Rui- he's very quiet, spends most of his time, sleeping out at the emergency exit, this is where Tsukushi meets him...you discover he had autism as a child, and his childhood sweetheart is named Shuzuke( minor character) shows up only a few times in the manga.
Mimasaka Akira- he's kind of like the peacemaker sometime, troublemaker all the time, playboy sort...*lol*....NOTE: he only goes for older women, you realize why in the manga later on. Has two sister Emu and Memu....twins, so adorable...*lol*....he's normally with his partner in crime Soujiro, they together, make fun of Rui and Doumyouji and also do something wild to get Tsukushi ans Tsukasa together.
Nishikado Soujirou- Definite playboy....he's got so many girls it isn't funny, VB would call him a walking STI...*lol*...together with Akira they constantly like reminding Tsukasa of his virgin status...*LOL*....
then you've got the friends that show up the badguys, you want to hog tie and stuff in the closet.
It become funny that of this group their eventual friends group, are ppl they had some sort of confrontation with...But then again the whole affair begins with the most out of whack confrontation.
Basic summary of how it all began.
Tsukushi's friend (who you never see again), falls down the stairs and hits Tsukasa. Now remember he's not very nice, very out of whack with reality. So he becomes angry, and starts to threaten Tsukushi's friend. Tsukushi isn't going to stand for that, so she basically stands up for her friend. Well Tsukasa isn't liking that, and decides to red tag her. The thing with the red tag is that anyone who gets one in their locker from F4 get's harassed and eventually leave the school because it's too much to bear.
Anyway, Tsukushi isn't going to stand for that either, she basically declares war on F4 herself, and kicks Tsukasa in the face/head. *lol*....lets just say that was so great in the manga. Moving on, Tsukushi is getting along, she's not letting the ridicule bother her, and then a junior high friend shows up, who continually says he's 'neuvo riche'...quite annoying, but he's cool, a bit ditzy but alright. He in turn get's red carded. Kind of comedic having both Kazuya and Tsukushi run around the school campus being hounded by a mob. They make it to the college sections of the campus where F4 is located, where Rui saves Tsukushi, and we meet Shizuka...who is very nice to Tsukushi.
So, i'll leave it at that....Too much happens to rattle on about it.
But this series is fantastic. There's ups and downs, and circles in there that have you either frustrated as hell, or laughing like a hyena.

hehehe...I've done that too...with DragonBall GT....I did try to resist though, cause i told myself since i really can't read it, I won't buy it, but dyamn those covers are so addictive....*lol*...
tsk tsk tsk...this one isn't going to cost any money, just download the scanlations...unless you want to buy the mangas...hehehe....
I'm debating getting the anime, but I've got to pay some of my holiday bills first, but then they don't have a boxset...*urgh*....so i'm still debating...may have to sacrifice some books for it...:-(
